
Ian Woodroofe
SVP, Strategy & Business Development, Cubic Transportation Systems
Ian Woodroofe is senior vice president of business development for Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS). Ian is responsible for growing Cubic’s worldwide client base by implementing its NextCity vision and helping Cubic’s customers address their mobility, safety and information needs.
Prior to joining Cubic, Ian was responsible for Thales’ Transport and Security businesses in Southeast Asia based in Singapore, where Smart Nation programs and contribution to the World Cities Summits have shaped a strong passion for smart and sustainable cities. Ian addressed a wide variety of projects, ranging from rail signaling to payment systems and security of borders and critical infrastructure.
In his former role, Ian initiated landmark projects such as the first country-wide integrated smart card ticketing system (OV-Chipkaart) in the Netherlands, use of smart cards and tokens in Asia-Pacific fare systems and successfully delivered the Mexico Urban Security project Cuidad Segura C4i/C2 systems.
While in France for Thales and Alcatel-Alsthom, Ian held a variety of executive management roles in bids and projects, product marketing and sales.
Ian has a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering with honors from the University of Wales and an MBA from Aston Business School, Aston University in the U.K.
